Alone,Under a Moonlit Sky....

TeQuila Sunrise
-Eagles

It’s another tequila sunrise
Starin’ slowly ’cross the sky, said goodbye
He was just a hired hand
Workin’ on the dreams he planned to try
The days go by

Ev’ry night when the sun goes down
Just another lonely boy in town
And she’s out runnin’ ’round

She wasn’t just another woman
And I couldn’t keep from comin’ on
It’s been so long
Oh, and it’s a hollow feelin’ when
It comes down to dealin’ friends
It never ends

Take another shot of courage
Wonder why the right words never come
You just get numb
It’s another tequila sunrise, this old world
Still looks the same,
Another frame, mm...

(I have no words to describe this song...except perhaps B.E.A-Utiful)

A Beautiful TragedY...

Rohinton Mistry + Emergency period in India + all kinda Emotions + pathetic social issues = A Fine Balance... A Fine Balance is a Beautiful Tragedy...surprised? no..its not a wrong choice of Words- on the contrary, its a deliberate one. Tragedies aren't known to be "beautiful"...they're painful... And that's exactly where Rohinton Mistry manages to strike a note of difference. He brings forth the horror and devastation rought about by the Emergency in all its vividness through 'A Fine Balance'. The novel is a classic critique of the social and political environment that existed in India, and leaves the reader with a pathetic view of the earlier beliefs and practices. The story is set in 1975 in an "unidentified city near the sea", riddled with poverty and teeming with beggars. It centers around the unlikely living arrangements of four characters who strained by their economic circumstances come together to share an apartment. Dina Dilal-is a beautiful, middle-agd Parsi widower who has spent her life trying to escape her abusive and domineering brother in a society where independent women are like grapes in winter!(ok..i mean outta season..) The apartment represents her attempt to maintain her freedom, but she cannot afford the rent on her own. With the help of her friend, Zenobia, she builds on her life-She takes in a fellow Parsi as a boarder, Maneck Kohlah, whose parents have sent him to the city from his beloved Himalayan hill country so that he can earn a degree. Then she hires two tailors to do piece work(for an export company, again thanks to Zenobia) -Hindus whom she allows to live in the apartment : Ishvar Darji and his seventeen-year-old nephew, Omprakash. Despite the huge difference in their backgrounds, the four develop into something like a family, as they begin to depend on each other in the face of financial hardship, personal troubles, and political turmoil. Om and Maneck are found to be typical boys(if u know wat i mean..), Ishwar, the father figure and Dina the Mother! The lives of teh other characters characters--including the local Beggarmaster, a guilt ridden rent collector, a hair collector who takes his work a lil too seriously, a crippled beggar become intertwined with those of the main characters, providing a richly textured, and detailed picture, of their world. When everything seems to be becoming happy and jus perfect for a fairy-tale ending, we are reminded of the turmoil in the outside world by sudden tragedy which envelopes the lives of these four characters. On a visit back home,to get Om married, Om and Ishvar are forcibly sterilized(lottsa village drama-the past comes back to haunt them...); Maneck, devastated by the murder of an activist classmate, goes abroad. Dina who is unaware of all this is suddenly left all alone. She has no inkling of what has happened to the tailors and does not know why they do not come back from the village... Fading hopes...lotsa death...and she returns to her brother's place... Maneck returns from abroad to the hills..his place The tailors-(once "chamaars" who had defied the restrictions of the caste), return to the streets...And hence, "the Circle is Completed" "Mistry also manages to maintain a fine balance of his own. He blends bad luck with a dash of hope, egging us on - only to dash our expectations with a new set of conflicts and troubles. There is always a silver lining for his characters. He creates a masterpiece that is Dickensian in its sympathy for the poor while combining it with a celebration of the indomitable spirit of human desire and hope as well as the despair of unfulfilled dreams. The novel is a symphony of corruption, cruelty, hope, desire, kindness and despair." "As the characters move from distrust to friendship and from friendship to love, A Fine Balance creates an enduring panorama of the human spirit in an inhuman state" A tragedy that left me smiling sadly in retrospect.

I read the book in between classes, and during the first half of my prep leave...and i dont regret it! Its a book that leaves you "wondering" throughout. Simply Amazing! A MUST READ!!!
(p.s- the tailors' comparison of life with their work is quite a something to think on...patch work..life's js like a Patch work...various elements come together signifyin moments of joy, hope, despair, love, etc and join to make somthing as Complete as a comfortable quilt...) READ THIS BOOK!

BLUE NIGHT
-MLTR

Lately u have been askin me
if all my words are true
Dont u know i'll do anything for you
Sometimes i have'nt been good to u
Sometimes i made you Cry
And now i'm Sorry For Everything
But i promise u girl, i promise u this

chorus:
When the Blue Night is over my face
And the dark side of the world in space
When i'm all alone With the stars above
You are the one I love...

There's no need to worry girl
My heart is sealed for you
And no one's gonna take it away
Coz i promise you girl
I promise you this

Chorus

Your voice is calling to me in my dreams
My love is stronger than its ever been

(loooveeely song...i fell in love with it the very instant i heard it- thanks to Anand's Yepp and his advice to hear it with closed eyes...Wish someone would dedicate it to me... *siggghhh* )

Sayin Sorry...

On Bended Knees
(Boyz II Men)

Darling I, I can't explain,

Where did we lose our way,
'Girl it's driving me insane.
And I know I just need one more chance,
To prove my love to you.
And if you come back to me,
I'll guarantee,
That I'll never let you go.

CHORUS:
Can we go back to the days
Our love was strong.
Can you tell me how
A perfect love goes wrong.
Can somebody tell me
How to get things back,
The way they used to be.
Oh God, give me the reason,
I'm down on bended knee.

B-SECTION:
I'll never walk again,
Until you come back to me,
I'm down on bended knee.

So many nights I dream of you.
Holding my pillow tight I know,
That I don't need to be alone.
When I open up my eyes,
To face reality,
Every moment without you,
It seems like eternity.
I'm begging you, begging you come back to me.

REPEAT CHORUS.

MIKE:
Baby, I'm sorry,
Please forgive me for all the wrong I've done.
Please come back home girl.
I know you put all your trust in me,
I'm sorry I let you down.
Please forgive me.

I'm gonna swallow my pride,
Say I'm sorry,
Stop pointing fingers,
The blame is on me.
I want a new life,
And I want it with you.
If you feel the same,
Don't ever let it go.
You gotta believe in the spirit of love,
It will heal all things,
Won't hurt any more.
No I don't believe our love's terminal.
I'm down on my knees,
Begging you please,
Come home.

REPEAT CHORUS TWICE.

(An instant formula for gaining Forgiveness...The song surely has "the works"!)

The Road Not Taken
(Robert Frost)

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

....And thats one of my Favourite Poems....

Iris
(Goo Goo Dolls)

And I'd give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight

Chorus
And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything seems like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know your alive

Chorus
And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am

Everything about the song has a soulful feel to it-the lyrics, the music..jus everything! On a scale of 1-5, 5 being Outstanding, I'd rate this song as ... 7!
